I have been doing well in a river with limblines. Cut bait or chicken breast chunks seem to work equally well. Set them with the bait 1-3 feet deep. I have been putting the lines out starting about 2 hours before dark and sometimes I don't get them all out until after dark, depends on how many I put out. I put out 10-20 lines. Then run them a few times. They have been biting for 3-6 hours. I haven't stayed longer, as that would be all night, lol. And I have plenty of fish by then anyway. Wondering if this upcoming full moon will affect the fishing.

I also might put out some noodles when I first get there, motoring up river and put them out, then start setting limb lines. By the time I get all the lines set, the noodles will have made it quite a ways toward the end.

Regarding the moon, I have read that flatheads bite the worst on full moons. I catch maybe one small flathead per trip, the rest are blues. I don't know why I haven't caught any channel cats.

I fish when I can but I do the best in the dark of the moon.I like setting my limb lines in shallow water at night.

We've never done great on a full moon for flatheads. I know the big flatheads like dark spots. Seems like they just stay in there holes. During the full moon, we fish more heavy in the under cut part of the bank and do better then just on the limb lines. We cut poles and stick them in the bank at these under cuts.

The moon has been beautiful. Take your girlfriend or wife and the fishing will be less important.

That moon should be out in the daytime peep I hate to say folks but the blues have been biting hard up our way smack dab in the heat of the day flame

Someone likes cake.

I caught by biggest Flathead in the Brazos River under a super moon. 42lbs on a 9" Gizzard Shad. But I do agree that they bite better when it's darker. I think more goes in to it than moon phase though.

What rule hooks are you using on your limb lines?

I like circle hooks, #7. My last purchase was Bass Pro Shops CatMaxx Circle Hooks but I found I didn't like the two barbs on top of the shaft (bait keeper hooks) because it's harder to tie a snell knot with those barbs being there.

As for the moon, went last night and fished only two hours but caught 8 blues, nice mess of fish, on chicken breast, limb lines. The moon didn't rise until we left the river. They bit fine.

Have to agree, went to Cedar Creek crappie fishing and caught almost as many 1-2 lb blues in 12-18 ft. My daughter fought a large blue for over 15 min with 4lb mono and a 0 aberdeen. Wasn't a fair fight but he broke off at the boat. I don't catfish a lot but that blue was at least 12 inchs wide when he rolled and cut the line.
