Sunfish works good for cut bait and live bait, but once I get them, how do I keep them alive until time to bait my lines? I need to keep them alive 2-6 hours. Anyone have a technique?
EDIT: I just remembered I have a small battery aerator for a minnow bucket. BTW, I catch the baitfish in a small pond and then have to drive ten miles to the river to fish.

Put a good aerator on a cooler. Exactly right. I did this for freshwater and saltwater. Can keep bait alive for days.

I learned the hard way have a 120qt cooler with pump thought that would be enough to keep fish alive they would die every time could not figure why my bait would die sometimes within minutes of taking them out the pond I was catching them in and transferring to cooler in truck it all stopped when I added the aerators

When you guys say good aerator on a cooler, what is a good aerator and what do you mean by "cooler." Ice chest? If anyone can give more specific info, it's appreciated. And how large a "cooler" does one need? I would hope it doesn't need to be a 48 qt ice chest or so, that sure would take up a lot of room in the boat.
