Any help would be greatly appreciated...
I feel like only the first 1/2 to 2/3 of the throttle is useful.....then I'm maxed out. Engine idles fine and runs great but caps at 4000 RPMs. I’m able to get on plane just fine with very little weight in boat…..but not at all when fully loaded. Fuel is good, spark good on all coils… I know it can be several other things faulty switch box, low compression (going to check next – pretty sure they are fine,) broken reed, fuel system problem, temp sensor ckt fault. I’m a rookie as far as working on outboard motors goes…….curious if anyone has had this issue and what resolved the issue?

Wish it was an easy fix but a guy brought me a 1994 XRI 3 days ago, that hits a wall at 3200rpm. Has already been to other shops replacing ign. boxs, stator and the manual and electric fuel pump. Found the oil metering rod on wrong, the pulse valve vent was plugged, gasket was not sealing on the pulse to manual pump gasket. Compression is 110-115, all cylinders hitting at low rpm`s, timing is good at 26. I replaced all of the fuel lines, filters, checked fuel tank pickup. Going into the VST to check the needle and seat, clean the fuel regulator next. Posting this to let you know how involved it can get. Fuel lines would be the first thing I would replace.

Gary has any of the previous mechanics sent the Ecu out for testing or tried a replacement. Sounds like one of the injector drivers in the Ecu is bad.

Yes it has, I should have included that.

I've had issues with a 95 model. The monkeys that worked on it before my purchase put the brain on and crushed the vacuum line to the motor. Then they proceeded to replace parts trying to get it right. Broke the injector rail then poorly repaired it. I had the injectors cleaned and fixed the vacuum line and with the right prop I may be in business. It's only been a year in the making.

Yes it has, I should have included that. jus something we've found Gary... all these "so called ecu fixer upper guys", even tha big names, aren't as good as they think they are.. jus sometimes they get lucky... hell, even Diamond will only do "fuel curve/rev limiter" (on certain ecu's, 11350's, 4949's mostly) anymore...
