Has anyone ever used a frog hook, something along the lines of what is used with hollow body frogs such as ribbit, with soft plastics? The hook, mainly the one where you screw in the head near the eye of the hook, then comes down and splits into 2 hooks. I just wonder if it would increase hook ups or would it have a negative impact on action.
I am guessing the only baits that it could really be used on is pitching baits, like a craw, that has tails of some sort to be able to put the hooks into to keep them weedless.

Would think you would just double the hang up problems you would have in cover , limit your action on your soft plastics and tear up your soft plastics quicker.... But I have never tried it.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways with a fishing rod in one hand, 10# LMB in the other, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and yelling "Wow! What a Ride!

I've used the double shaft frog hooks before and they ups and downs like all lures. Ups, you get a second point that might make a difference in a short strike bass, it helps to keep the frog from doing that weird thing where it roles over while you're running it. Downs, the points of the hooks go into each leg, it doesn't so much hurt the action of the frog, but after a fish or two the plastic tears and it's the legs that fall off rather than tearing the body and getting a few more fish out of it. I personally just stick with a heavy wire single hook. I don't feel like i miss any more or any fewer fish.

Yea good points, never tried it either, but have heard others do it and seen it a few times so just wondered what the pros and cons were and if it was worth even trying.

The double hooks also take up more space in the tackle box.

I used the owner double frog hook on some beavers flipping. I really don't think it helped at all.
