While I definitely love catching the stripers out on Lake Whitney, I wanted to know if anyone has been catching sandies anywhere besides on top near the island? I'd like to try to catch some for the frier sometime soon, but I'm just not really sure where to go as I usually catch them when I'm fishing for striper. Also, does anyone use anything besides slabs to catch them? Thanks in advance for any help!

Sand bass fishing has been decent over by the state park. Rattle Traps and Little George has been working for us.

I second Little Georges (Those things are magic)
And "Lil Fishies". They're swimming lures that look like minnows. They're like candy

Stay hungry my friends!

So how do you fish the little George's? I've got 1 or 2 but never really used it all that much. Also, are you fishing some kind of structure in that area or are the fish just scattered throughout? Not looking for coordinates, just trying to understand the pattern. Thanks for the help!

If you guys like to use little George's I'd like to suggest supporting this local tackle company that makes them. Local to the DFW area that is.

Catch them all the time on a rigs and swimbaits. I just look for them sitting on bottom or see them suspended in schools. I just look on the down image and you can tell they are sandies by the size of the marks and the way they hold tight together There were some holding by the island last week. Havent been since then. Good luck.

Start motor, place boat in gear and drive(below 4 mph), let 30-80 yards of line out and hold on to pole. You'll find them sooner or later. After you catch a few stop and try working that area by casting and reeling in. Blades should be turning when trolling or reeling.
