When it's this Hot catching fish may sound crazy but the bite is really going ok. It's usually a slow start first thing in the morning but as the morning goes on the fish kind of start moving up on there summer spots.

They seem to be a little shy of our boats hovering over head and move around a little so I either cast around or idle around to figure out which direction they went to when I finding m them I drop a slab down and jig it a few times if it's the fish I'm looking for most likely they will hit pretty quick.

Most times with your depth finder you can pretty well tell what fish you're marking on the bottom or these days suspended a few feet off the bottom. Most all Game fish will hit the slab that's including catfish.
Fish for the most part are flash hitters whenever they see the flash they are going to strike. If they bite and you yank you will catch them maybe in the mouth or maybe in the tale they flash and you catch or it's a swing and a miss as I say. The little jig tied above the slab is fun too everyone seems to enjoy catch two fish at the same time.

I usually go without the jig if I'm expecting the bigger hybrids I really don't want two of them at the same time because I end up with nothing. DAlthough the little jig does pretty well hanging onto the 18 to 20 inch hybrids and bigger sandbass.

We're still having fun out here on the lake and I have openings during the week but only until mid August when I go on vacation for a few weeks and yes I'm already looking forward to the Fall fishing season.

Good piece on the Dog Days of Summer. I love Fall fishing. It's my favorite time of the year!

Thank you sir, the heat is a issue but I really only notice it around 10:00 or so about that time I offer up some chilled fruit than we're usually about done and head for the boat ramp.
Regards Bob
