Use a watermelon baby brush hog on a Texas rig. Use a heavier weight if you're having to punch through heavy cover like life jackets and tackle boxes....

Put a Hillary Clinton campaign poster on the boat. Even a snake couldn't hack looking at that woman.

Get you a red shouldered hawk that is hungry. I have a pair that live in my backyard. They eat snakes daily it seems.

Park it in the open sun... Let it set out for a couple days in the heat. Even if it doesn't leave, an 18" water snake shouldn't stink too long.

If it's only 18 inches long, put a minnow trap in the boat with a few minnows or goldfish inside, snake will go in and usually won't get out.

I'd leave it be. If you don't catch anything, you have an excuse. as long as you know it is a water snake. I had a cottonmouth get in my boat one night at Texoma. I was fortunate that the wife when fishing with me that morning. It was between the deck and the seat and she killed it when she sat down. I was tempted to tell her when I found it that her fat butt was good for something. Divorce would have come a lot sooner if I had.

Was on the phone with the wife while fishing and saw movement. A 18" water snake had joined me. Don 't know when or how but it's in the boat. Tried to catch it but it got into one of the many places in a boat where it can hide.
Does anyone have a suggestion about how to catch it? The wife would go with burning the boat but I want something a little less radical. All help is appreciated!

It's just a water snake. Leave it be. It will crawl out eventually.

Next time your out fishing throw some small fish in live well and leave lids open and I bet it's in there in no time. Throw a couple of mice in there for even quicker results!

Shame on you for putting that snake there Stump! Not this time but I have been known to have some fun with snakes. I tube skinned a 4' rattlesnake once and filled it with water and put it under a guys desk at work.
