With all the worry about infections nowadays, I'm thinking about fishing gloves. No way can you fish without getting a cut or scrape on your hand. Use live shrimp, and you'll get pricked without fail. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I'm not a high-risk person, but why take chances.

I wear a glove on my left hand while fishing. It allows me to confidently grab a fish with hooks flying around and to just be more safe with so many sharp/dangerous objects including the fish themselves. It saved me a trip to the ER last year when I went to grab an oversized redfish with a topwater plug in it's mouth. I'm shocked everybody doesn't wear at least one.

i use these in the winter, but you could use them all year. they're very thin with a rubber palm. i can use my bait casters easily with them.

I use the Simms sun gloves. it would be minimal protection but I will say I haven't had any cuts or pokes while wearing them.

I always wear one on my left hand only. I got tired of getting cut up by fish and having a sore hand for a week

I used to carry one of these around when fishing the salt. Never knew what you might catch. It isn't worn while fishing, only for handling fish.

I prefer to use a Boga Grip handling fish or needle nose pliers and turn the hook and drop fish without ever having to touch them. I don't wear gloves, never have.

Absolutely wear gloves for many reasons. I buy the $7 per pair fishing gloves from academy and cut the fingers out. Freshwater, saltwater, fly fishing or conventional, I always wear gloves.
