fresh dead pogies in the last 200 yards of the cape cod canal will find you fish. remember they have a 36" MINIMUM up there. I would hire a small boat charter to get you off the beach heads where they swarm like white bass do here. good luck, I love it up there this time of year!

Closest I ever came to fishing that area was Jamaica Bay, New York, years ago in a kayak tournament. Had met a lot of guys on an online kayak forum, fished with a couple of them when they came down to south Florida and decided to make the trip north and fish for striped bass. Great time and beautiful waters. Lost track of many of the guys from Mass but remember a bunch of them went to Stripers Online when the KayakFishingStuff website ended. Lots of current information here: http://www.stripersonline.com/surftalk/t...el-city/page-29

No but i'd love to. I've caught some pretty big ones (42") inland and they are a fun fish to catch.

I used to go up there just about every summer for 15 years. I don't know where exactly you will be. I did most of my striper fishing in and around Chatham MA. Stripers are temperature sensitive and move around some. In the peak of summer, seems like they were more off the Atlantic beaches and in Cape Cod bay on up to points north heading into Maine and less in Nantucket sound.
I had a blast fishing for them off the beach near Chatham light/south beach. This is an Atlantic facing beach and I waded Texas style (cold and wet) and chunked superspooks into the surf. The action was about like a good day in the Texas surf for trout. The fish for the most part were 20-28". All released. We also trolled massive lead head jigs on single strand wire line through the big tidal rips that form off Monomoy island. The fish caught that way tended to run bigger into the 15-20# class. There was a place by the Mass maritime academy that was shore fishing and we used eels there. Bluefish, much bigger than ours, roam beachfronts this time of year. Just have some wire leader ready and do not put your fingers near their mouths.
