I think my boat is in safe/ limp mode. I think it's the remote oil tank float switch.

No alarms are sounding. It's on a Skeeter a 2000 Zx 202c I have a low oil light and over heat light on my dash.

If I try to crank the motor without the kill switch I get an alarm.

I started today by draining the engine oil tank by removing the nipple. I pulled the float and it looked to be working fine. I replaced the nipple and the float. I turned the key on and the alarm sounded and the pump in the boat started to pump and fill the engine tank. Once it hit the first mark on the tank the alarm stopped. So I don't think it's the engine tank float.

Next I unplugged the remote tank and turned the key and nothing happened. No alarm or low oil light.

Then I removed the tank and poured all the oil out. I checked the float and it appeared to be free and working. I put the float back in and turned the key and still no light or alarm.

I read somewhere that the remote oil tank will not signal the alarm only the red light. I have heard it go off in another boat with a yamaha when the remote tank got low.. We filled it up and it when off. That was on a 02 Skeeter with the same motor.

What can I do to test why its in limp mode?

I blew out the filter and lines and it appears there is no restriction as the oil pumped in there fine from the remote tank to the engine tank.

Something should cause that red light to go off to warn for low oil? What should cause my red light to go off on the dash? The remote tank or the engine tank? Same for the Alarm?

My boat has 100 psi on all cylinders and it won't get over 2500 rpms? Idles well and starts up first crank. Plugs were really wet when I removed. I replaced with new plugs.

Thanks in advanced for the help.

that oil level circuit can be tricky, the floats may be moving freely but not sending signal to the brain. Test all of your wires for continuity. I wound up rewiring the whole harness and it fixed the issue

When in doubt on these newer motors with computer control systems I will disconnect the cranking battery for 4 or 5 minutes. Just lets it re-set and re-boot. Very seldom works but worth the effort. I have to shut my cell phone and laptop down every once in a while when it starts acting crazy.
