Been out to Texoma last few weekends after striper and can sometimes find sandies under birds with a striper mixed in, but have not run into a single school of box-fish or better size striper. Have mostly been around Grandpappy but occasionally will venture all the way up to catfish bay. Heard rumors of surface "boiling" on flats and large schools along the islands near highport but have yet to run into any serious striper action in either case and have seen very few crowds of boats fishing schools. Even one of my guide friends has just been chasing sandies on north end of the lake because he can't find consistent striper. Are the rumors true and I'm just always one day late or are the striper still elusive?

Your chasing small fish eating this years hatch of shad. Big striper are roaming the deep water and are pretty tough to catch.

I think your guide friend is right. I booked a well known Texoma Stiper guide who told me they were on fire! Plenty of nice stripers being caught. We went to a point and sat there for a few hours catching nothing but sand bass. I asked why aren't we striper fishing? He said they are usually mixed in with the sand bass. I just went with it, paid my money, took my fillets and left. Not what I had in mind for $450.
If it ain't yours don't mess with it! Need a friendly place to talk hunting? www.talkhunting.com

I got into whites good once this years under some birds, and they're 100x better than catching nothing, but can't compete with gettin on stripers.
