I was wanting to change my propeller on 2003 Stratos 185 w/Yamaha 150 VMAX 2-stroke and have been thinking about going with a 4 blade prop. I understand that some loss of top end speed is to be expected, but the pluses seem to be all good with a 4-blade prop. Anyone have experience that can shed some light on this for me.

I had a 4 blade on my last Stratos with a 200 E-TECH, I really liked it, quicker out of the hole and didn't notice any loss of speed, unfortunately my last Stratos came with a three blade. Hope this helps.

I've noticed that too on my Basscat that I'm running a 24p Tempest and that it gets somewhat squirrely and loses grip in rougher water. I'm currently looking for a 23p 4 blade trophy prop if anyone heres or sees any before I do to please let me know.. Thanks in advance

I've always ran a 4-blade on the last two boats I owned. Both were rigged with OMC 175HP. I much prefer a 4-blade to a 3-blade prop.

The 4 blade will give you a much better hole shot, but more than likely you will not have near the bow lift as with the 3 blade, and hence, less speed. Do you want to sacrifice speed for hole shot and handling? Also, rule of thumb, go down 2" of pitch when you go to a 4 blade.
