The oil pickup tube screen is clogging with oil that seems to be setup. I've cleaned the screen with carb cleaner twice over the past couple weeks because the alarm went off. I don't want this to be a recurring problem.
I need to ditch the oil and clean the container out right?

You most likely mixed types of oil. Seen it many times. Causes a gel type coating on the screen. Remove the oil tank clean it well and start over with brand of oil you prefer.

Right on. I only use Mercury QuickSilver, but I bought the boat about a month ago.
