I have never fished it. I'm going to next week. Looking forward to it. I hear it's a nice lake.

I will be out there for several days. It will probably all be during the week. There just can't be as many jet fleas and wakeboard people as they have at Grapevine. I'm going to have the wife and kids, so I'm guessing I won't get to fish as much as I want. Some will want to go on water slides, and some will want to shop. That's why I'm trying to take two vehicles.

Cypress is a play lake some times but you have the other two lakes starting on the other side of the dam. Get a good map to see where things is, and the family can find things to do. Good Fishing

Cypress is much smaller than Gvine so with all of the waves rebounding off of the shoreline breakwaters it gets rough. The waves come from every direction even on windless days. You will looking for relief most days by 10am.

There is some great dock shooting. Search for brush plies in 14/17', they are all over the lake.

Thanks guys. Looking forward to it.

It is kind of funny that I was thinking I would get a break from the wakeboard type of stuff that happens so much around here, but I may be going to wakeboard central.

Get out early. They usually aren't up and going until around 10:30.
We get there at about 5:30-6 and leave by 11.

Back when I use to fish this lake for walleye and crappie there were very few homes on this lake. Now I don't think there are any open land lots on the lake. If there are there are only a few. It has ballooned to say the least.

Walleye, really? I've noticed some lakes have stocked them in the past. But I've never heard of anyone catching them.

Yep Walleye. They actually stocked it with Walleye after it was filled. In the late 90's there were still a few there but not many. There is actually a park on the north side named "Walleye Park".

And now you know......the rest of the story

I may be showing my age here, but I used to troll with big hellbenders exclusively for walleye and have plenty of them.

I can relate to that!

In the 90's I was lucky to have a couple of very good bass fisherman (older guys) show me their ways. Trolling was one of the techniques I picked up from them. I took interest in it and took it to another level and caught my first two DD's trolling on Cypress. My first one I was trolling a Bagley deep diving crank bait in 20' of water. My girlfriend, now wife, used to enjoy going trolling. We caught a lot of good bass trolling.

In all the years I had a home there and all the years I fished there I never caught a walleye though. I saw them in the shallows a few times. And I saw people bringing them into the marina for ID and pics. But I never caught one on that lake.
