The best thing to do is get your team mates and possible parents to go out and talk to local owned businesses , introduce yourself and have a little game plan on what the money will be used for. Don't just ask for money so you can fish. You may be suprised on the outcome. I have ran a team for the past 4 years and that's pretty much how we done it. It takes a little effort but is better than just asking for money.

Hope that helps.

Good luck this year and welcome to the THSBA

I've tried numerous businesses and stores around my area and I have had no luck so far. Do you have better luck with mom and pop type stores or bigger chains?

I would try local Fishing clubs. Go to some of the tournaments most of these guys are business owners talk to them. Always like to see the youth come up in the sport

The mom and pop type stores, maybe people your parents know that have a business. If your parents do business at a particular grocery store, hardware store or even a car dealership. Just have a plan in mind. Try selling the ads for a certain price. Like Large and in the front center $1000 , smaller ones for like $500 with a logo. Then if that is too much, maybe just the names for like $250 each. If you go in and ask for something and you just say things like, I don't know, anything would work, etc... Then it shows them lack of planning( my opinion)

Always keep in mind it's not what can they do for you, it's what can you do for them. Stay smaller and work your way up. How can you promote them and help them as a business. Let them know what your going to do for them, and they will do the same back.

This is Ms. Weldon. Try Jerry Owens Electric on 380 and get some of the sonic cards to sell There is that 4x4 truck modified business across from the flea market on 380. Try that. Keep trying, try businesses that have been there. Big businesses normally can't donate money.
