After fighting with funnels and water jugs, I found an easy way to add water to my all of my batteries. I went to Walmart an bought a Turkey Baster in the kitchen gadgets dept for less than $3.00. No more mess and I can put the right amount in each cell

So you're saying I shouldn't be opening a gallon size jug of distilled water and just start pouring all over the top of the batteries until they're full? Good idea though...

Actually you re only supposed to fill to the Bottom of the fill tube anything more is overfilling. Overfilling can cause a few minor issues.

I figured as many times as my battery compartment gets flooded in a week worth of fishing in 30mph winds, the batteries would be self filled.

Seriously though....only top them off AFTER fully charging them. If you do so before charging them, the batteries can "boil over" and get acid all over the battery compartment.

This is why I only run Agm batteries. I hate maintenance.

Never had a boil over problem. I know low water will kill a battery faster than over filling. I run cheap Exides so I need to maintain them.

Athletic water bottle. The one with the snout and you squeeze. Always hold it upright. I added a short length of plastic tubing so I can put it in the battery cell.

Do you still have to use distilled water for battery refill? I was told along time ago that it was no longer required to use distilled, that you could use regular tap water. Then again I have also been told that if it's on the internet that it is a fact no matter how silly it sounds. So what's the deal, distilled or tap?

SPEAKING of Batteries. Now is the time to check them. I typically forget and this reminded me to check them. Sure enough they were low. It happens every year during the heat. So now is a good time to check them and top them off!!!

Very bad info! Adding the chemicals(chlorine...) and minerals that is in municipal and private well water to your battery will shorten the life of the battery. An entire gallon of distilled water is less than a buck.
