My son is on leave from the Army this month before going to South Korea for the next 1 1/2 years. We are wanting to take a trip this week and are trying to choose between the 3 lakes. We have been to Fork and TB but not to Rayburn.

Looking for any lodging recommendations that is reasonably priced. Also looking for any fishing tips, shallow or deep and/or creeks that may be producing. Are there any guides that you would recommend for this time of year?

Your help is greatly appreciated,

Ken

I was going to say in this order: TB, Rayburn, Fork. but since you've been to TB and Fork, I would go to Rayburn.

If you go to TB then Rayburn is literally just down the road. Hit them both. Better yet just hit all 3. Stop for a day at Fork then head east for the other 2.

Rayburn is fishing a lot better than Toledo Bend for me. Toledo was tough for me Fri/Sat for tournament grade fish.

Rayburn
If all you want is an enjoyable/fun outing. Stay at Powell Park & book a crappie trip with Roger Bacon, for the day. If you're taking your boat he'll also point you in the right direction from same bass fish'n.

Rayburn is better than Toledo at this time. When BASS MASTER selected Toledo as the Top Lake, it was in the Spring and was awesome fishing. Most of the current reports show fishing slowing down on Toledo. Now Rayburn is a different story!!! Fishing on Rayburn is doing pretty good with good fish in easily fished locations. Lots of BIG fish along the Hay Grass on Big Worms and flipping in the Haygrass. Even some scattered Frog Bites.
If you are looking for a place to stay then check out:
Lakeview Motel at the midlake 147 Bridge (nearby Castle Boykins)
South End of the Lake a good place is Rayburn Country Motel. Quiet, Clean, Secure.

I have cabins and a lodge on Rayburn close to Powell Park. I second the notion about gong out with Roger Bacon and crappie trip and then getting some pointers for bass. Shoot me a PM or give me a call.

I like Rayburn's Powell park to fish the south end.. grin

I think we stayed in this cabin, they're nice.. Very peaceful area, and good(safe) boat ramps..

I bet if Rayburn was #1 Toledo would be fishing like a no pressure lake
