Caught these on just four leftover night crawlers on Conroe recently. Three feet under a small bobber up near the shoreline in 5 ft of water. They were caught as fast as I could get the bait in the water in under 45 minutes. Stay after them.

These were caught next to my pier / bulkhead. They are mostly males that were on nests. Sandy bottoms are their choice for beds. They were caught between 8 and 9 am two weeks ago when the temps were just slightly cooler. I believe you should find them about anywhere these conditions are present: Sandy bottom up to 5 ft deep, structure available nearby.
I have never had to go deeper water to catch them here on Conroe from March through September when I fish for them, although you will find in deeper water as well.
