Tragic news. I went to fire academy with some guys at GFD as well as have a ton of friends there. I am trying to get a name. In the meantime prayers to both his families and all his friends. Sucks to have to recover someone from a lake. Even worse is when its one of your own.

So sad. Prayers lifted. How the heck does this happen so freakishly and random to a strong swimmer probably and trained service person? I mean Im sure there are hundreds of possibilities, it just reminds me how upset I get when my brother always jumps and mostly dives right in any lake with no life vest or float attached. So sorry to hear the guy drowned, I pray to never have to recover someone from a lake as said above. How do you avoid just swimming recreationally and this happen???? So sad

Sad news. Prayers for Grapevine brothers and family.
Garland Fire retired here. This gives me that sick felling again. Be careful out there.

Sad news for sure.
I feel more details of this tragedy would be beneficial for many on this forum. Not for morbid curiosity, but for educational purposes and prevention of future incidents.
My prayers for the young man's family and his fellow public servants.
