I'm heading to Buch tomorrow and would like to catch a few crappie. Anyone know in what part of the lake I might find brush piles or how deep they are? Are the sunken fish attractors with the GPS coordinates any good?

I have only fished Buchanan once but pretty sure those fish attractors are gone. They were placed in 2010-2011 and we have had low lake levels and floods since. The only crappie reports I have seen said they are deep over submerged timber. Good luck and post a report!

There are a few brushpiles in between Shaw and Garrett island. They will hold a few slabs. Brushpiles on that lake don't produce very well. Most of the fish I catch out there are in submerged standing timber.

The whole lake has standing submerged timber. You have to find the right trees.

The whole lake has standing submerged timber. You have to find the right trees. I found trees/large brush with fish...assume they were crappie but some of the white marks were large so maybe catfish. The issue I had was I only have structurescan at the console, no front depth finder...yet. Even with the Xi5 autopilot which takes me strait to the waypoint I found the anchor lock was good, but would not hold me directly over the fish. I sure could have used a down imaging front fish finder today. The whites were schooling on top chasing shad so I just caught those instead.
