I see trucks and boat trailers parked by this ramp, just west of Rockport. Is the water deep enough to launch a 19-foot boat? Is there a channel deep enough to access Port Bay and Italian Bend? The only reviews I found were 10 years old, and said there wasn't enough water either place. Crummy ramp, too, for a fee, they said. As far as I can tell, the only other ramp for Copano Bay is at the South end of Copano Bay Bridge. Anything closer to Rattlesnake Point? I use the Rattlesnake Point Road Kayak Launch for my yak, but it's not for powerboats. Sadly, just inside the Redfish Lodge gate is a beautiful, but very private, concrete ramp.

Thanks, IslandJim

Redfish camp is deep enough to launch, it does get alittle iffy during the winter during the really low tides. What kind of boat do you have. They do charge 5 dollars to launch there. The ramp has changed hands a few times. Its good to see another person on here that fish port bay. Have you had any luck lately?

Thanks for the reply, Josh. I have never caught anything in Port Bay, but I've only been there in my kayak, launching from Rattlesnake Point Road kayak launch. I also fish with a friend in a Mako 19, with a jack plate, and was wondering if we could launch at the ramp and get into Port Bay without being on the bottom? Another neighbor told me he & a friend used to come down to Port Bay from S.A. all the time, so I've been wanting to fish it. The kayak launch at the end of Port Bay Road is not very hospitable, so I never launched there.

Jim,

Here's a recent thread on 2cool regarding the same launch: http://2coolfishing.com/ttmbforum/showthread.php?t=1979426

Also, I've seen signs around Salt Lake of a boat ramp on Pintail Ln, however, when I went to find it I couldn't. So you may want to spend some time looking into that launch as a possibility.
