Has anyone used the Daiwa Zillion Rods that can give a quick review? I'm wanting to upgrade some of my rods and I'm looking at the 8' medium heavy crank bait rod and the 7' 6" heavy. I'm not looking to spend over 120-130 so some of the higher end rods are out of my price range. I'm also curious to know about the Diawa Tatula series and the Powell Inferno series.
I was in Academy the other day comparing the Daiwa Tatula to the Falcon Lowrider and the H2O Ethos. I could tell a bit of difference between the Ethos and the others, but the Tatula and Lowrider felt pretty similar to me. If I can find a Zillion for a similar price, would that be a better rod?
Thanks.

If you can find a Zillion in that price range....get two. One for you and one for me.
I have the 7'6" Heavy Zillion. Great rod. I broke an eye on it, but it was my fault. I can't wait to get it repaired. It is my favorite rod for flipping jigs. It is light and sensitive. And the reel seat is very comfortable. The aesthetics are nice and are similar to my Steez rods. I think the rod blanks are the same. The real differences are the reel seats and guide frame material.
Great rods. I hope you can find one for the price you have set. You will like it.

The 7'6" Zillion heavy is a great rod but it's heavier than the Steeze. It has an upgraded reel seat that looks cool and is comfortable but adds some weight. The Steeze gives me zero fatigue after multiple days and the Zillion is very close but the Zillion acts "heavier" in power and both have a great tip. The Zillion leaves the raw carbon fiber surface which I learned at Orvis, actually lends integrity to the strength of the rod and we will be seeing more of it. Polished and shiny sure looks nice but expect more of the raw carbon fiber look. I happen to think the blanks are slightly different but that's just a hunch.
The Tatula is a great reel. The T-Wing is a nice bit of technology which makes it pair up nicely with either of those rods. Diawa is really doing some great work with their R&D and I think you'll enjoy any of it. Like Steeze said.... Expect to pay north of $200 though for the Zillion 7'6" heavy.
Tight lines,

Thanks Jackson and Steez. That's exactly what I wanted to know. I bought a Tatula based on feedback from this site when I found one on a good sale. Now, I'm really liking that reel and planning to get a Type-R to pair with the Zillion if I can get one. That will be the most expensive setup I've used to date.

I use the older Tatula 7'6" and it is awesome. Not fond of the new design. You may also look into the Daiwa Cronos rods. Please get with Carlos he'll do you right.
