What night was was this? And what lake were you on? I ask because I was at Tawakoni Sat night with my LED's on. If it was me, I apologize, I usually run without them on, but there was nobody close by Sat night when I headed back to the ramp and I left them on so I could watch the shad jump.

If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!

I'm sure I will find out pretty quick after installation what our game warden thinks. He stops us 3-4 times a year no matter what boat we are in.

No it was on Joe Pool. I think he was anchored but never really checked. Just took the long route and avoided it. He was near a bridge but not under it and that made it confusing.

The lights are green. can't find anything that says yes or no.

Adding unapproved lighting including LEDs, especially any that use green or red lighting seems is a potential violation.*

Regardless of the opinions of a local GW, if such a boat were involved in a nighttime boating accident, such lighting could expose the boat owner to accident liability.

Turning off only while "underway" seems does not make display of unapproved lights become legal as suggested in an earlier post.

Blue lights could be interpreted as flashing being viewed from a distance because of wave actions. http://www.uscg.mil/hq/cg5/cg545/alerts/1015.pdf

Seems simple.....pick another color....avoid use of non USCG approved red, green and also avoid any blue lights including LEDs.

Save your $$$ and stick with what the manufacturer installed. Then if you get a ticket or you are involved in an incident you have at least some defense.

This is why I just added two Diablo drain plug lights that always remain underwater.

There are boats all over the lake with them on while underway.

Not on a 26' boat that is actually around 29-30 foot long counting the transom unless we are in the middle of a storm producing 4-6' waves at night. I didn't get pulled over. The gentleman behind me on the dock did in his ski boat within the marina and was told what I said earlier within the thread that his underwater blue lights were impersonating an officer. That is BS. Since they couldn't do the fireworks last year at highport they did them on Labor day and that night and a larger cruiser came through at a drunk clip flashing blue and white underwater lights but didn't get popped. He saw me because he was at least 100 yards from me in a swarm of boats. My lights don't interfere with any nav lights and that boat doesn't bob like a bobber in anything less than a 2 foot chop.

Edit. We use blue as they are more efficient in salt water.
