I am new to Fort Worth and travel on 820 quite a bit as I live in White Settlement. Why is it that I haven't noticed any bassboats on Lake Worth while there are all kinds of other boats out most days?

Probably cause most of the bassboats are in the river fishing. Check out the Lake on Wednesday or thursday evening should be tournament going on.

Too many crazy gators trying to snatch people up.....actually I have wondered that myself and the only thing I can think of is that either they are fishing where we can't see from the road or the lake isn't that popular with local anglers.

You'll see them at the right times. I don't hear much about the fishing out there. The one time I went I got skunked, but it was my first and only trip so I didn't really know where to start. Also from a kayak so traveling was limited.

Is fun to fish, I've never came close to a 18lb bag though. But it's got some decent fish in it.

Wed night working mans. If I fish it during the pleasure boat season, I go really early. Even then it is not usually that busy. It can fish pretty small at times. The River can be really fun at certain times of the year, but you have to idle up there now, which is not a big deal, lots of stumps. If you don't know how to get from the 199 bridge to the idle only buoys, idle from the bridge.

How far past the bridge do you go? I usually stop there since I can't see the stumps anymore.

I'm retired and have fished the lake pretty regularly for 13 years. I've learned the lake and I also prefer it over Eagle Mountain (far less recreational boats, jet fleas, etc.). Lake Worth is a shallow water fishery and that is how I like to fish. During the work week, there are not many bass boats on Worth, at least from dawn to mid afternoon. This time of year, hollow frogs, worms and craws, and creature baits work pretty good. And if you can catch a cloudy day, buzzbaits can be a killer.

In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.

I fished it hard the last three summers and it got progressively worse for me. Too much water for the fish. Fished it pretty hard this spring but haven't been back. Watermelon red baby brush hogs used to be our go to. As perry said you have to go a long way past the bridge to get into what I call river fishing.

Are you guys getting past the "big hole" or stopping on the straight away past the nature preserve dock?
