Having a little debate with friends on which of these is currently the better fishery. I haven't been on Falcon since 2012 and was on Sugar last month, so I am not much for info. Was hoping maybe some of you guys could chime in, preferably someone who has fished both lakes regularly or has at least fished them both lately. Strictly talking about the quality of fishing, no other factors such as danger or accommodations going into effect which would you say is the better lake now?

I don't think anybody that's fished both lakes is going to say Falcon. Sugar is on an entirely different level. Did you get to experience an A+ Sugar trip with a DD and a 40 lb stringer on your last trip? Nope and not even close, but those are the expectations on Sugar. Falcon does not have those same expectations. I would say an 8 lb big fish with a 30 lb bag on Falcon is a solid expectation right now. Does it happen daily? Heck no.....especially in the wind that we are having to deal with at the moment. Both lakes are very capable of producing huge numbers, but there again the ceiling while fishing offshore on Sugar is literally 200 fish in a day with 3 people fishing. Falcon? not close to that. Mind you on both lakes you are going to catch a mess of fish under 3 lbs. Hope you and Marty have a better trip in August cheers

I'll use Jim Edwards pricing.

Big Bobby Bass Buster Jr with his good buddy Walter Winthrup Walruse the Third goes for two day trip to SUGAR.

$1200 in guide fees
$100 lodging
$50 food
$80 Mexico License

Grand total of $1430 or $715 per man.

Steve "Slaunch Donkey" Dickerson and his good buddy Gerald G Funk Loomis go for a 2 day trip to Falcon and say, "heck with hiring a guide, I've watched Paul Elias on Youtube the last 8 years 7,456,129 times we gonna go WRECK EM!!!!" bow_down

$0 in guide fees
$200 in fuel
$100 in motel
$13 Subway
$11 Beef Jerky
$5.75 Stripes Tacos

$329.75.....Steve tells G that he'll pay because they used G's boat.

Neither Parties lost a lure and between the two groups 434 fish were caught in two days and the 4 fishermen lived happily ever after. The end. cheer

Is there any night life around Sugar? Or is not recommended? I like to get out at night and chase the local chicks in the area

Just based on two days of fishing on Sugar, I would say I prefer Sugar. Something about the atmosphere down there, the lake seems to have much less pressure and the lodging there is pretty neat to me. Even though its not far from the border there was just something about going down and fishing in Old Mexico! Thirty-eight more days till were back down, cant wait!!!

$100 per man, the price difference is not a concern. We will be going to Sugar on our August trip regardless because that is what we booked.

The hotel there has drinks, music, and a pool overlooking the lake. I would imagine you could drive back into town and find some night life to get into, but I certainly wouldnt do that!

BAD IDEA,, very bad idea... Most will tell you that you mess with the women in town and that is where you get into trouble and no law to protect you... Just saying.

For the two hundredth time.. If you plan to go to Sugar..

Hire a local guide.. Especially if it is your cherry bustin' trip..

If you decide to go it on your own, drive over in the AM.. Stay at the lake and fish and eat there.. If you need something, ask the guys at the motels to get it for you..

Do not go cruising the countryside in search of "entertainment." Especially after dark..

Drive back to the US after you are through fishing well before dark..

Mind your own business..

These are tips that I recommend.. And follow..

I think all the goats in town get put up once it gets dark, so RedRanger shouldn't be too big of a threat looking for nightlife....
