Heading to San Antonio end of this month. Wondering where is a good place to fish for some striper/hybrid at the lake dam?

In the Winter I would catch striper in the horseshoe bend area on the Guadalupe below Canyon Lake. Summer....Not so much. My best guess would be to fish any of the tail races below the Highland Lakes. But, that's not San Antonio either.

Tried fishing calavera with no luck. Threw couple jigs hoping to land a red but none. Was on light gear so cant even bait fish. Anyone know if you can go below the spillway/dam to fish?

No, you can't go below the dams at Caleveras or Braunig. Back in the day, you could catch hybrids with chicken liver. Not sure how it is now. For reds I would wade out and throw a live crawdad or tilapia out in the channel on Caleveras. Braunig you could chunk out live bait from "redfish point".

It has probably been 15 years since I fished those lakes so my information is historical.

I fished Caleveras back in the day when they had Corvinas. That was a hell of a fish!!
