Got my first graph this year and finally starting to learn how to graph schools of active fish. I've never caught offshore fish before and thought it wouldn't be much fun. Man, was I wrong. It was one after another in 30 ft of water! I was fishing 4.8" keitech swim baits with KVD swim bait jig heads. After 1 hour of slaying them I didn't have a keitech bait with a tail (they we're still biting with no paddle tail) and only one jig head left. That left me out $15 for an hours worth of fishing. I under stand we all pay to play, but are there more affordable options out there? I am now addicted to swim baits and am afraid of the cost!

Keitech baits work so well because they are soft. Keep some Mend-It or super glue handy & you can save some baits for a few more fish. Monster has a special color on sale right now for $4.99.

You can go with hard swim baits like 3:16 lures. They are a pretty penny but they last and hawgs love them. I have some swimbaits that are over 15 years old that just keep ticking.

Love swimbaits and I understand the obsession but did you try dropping a fluke into that deep school?

The back 3/4 of a mister twister swimsation makes for an outstanding 4inch soft swimbait.
The Charlie Brewer 4 inch bass grubs with a paddle tail are another good inexpensive option if you want a smaller more finesse action

I just recently tried the berkley ripple shad baits.I had good results. I caught like 15 bass before I couldn't use anymore. I don't remember the price but I think they were pretty reasonable.

Good bait and colors and readily available at Academy and some walmarts, I caught a couple 7-8lbers on the gizzard shad color last summer.

Gambler EZ Swimmer

One of my favorite swimbaits is the Gambler EZ swimmer. These guys are only $3.99. They're durable, have a great swimming action, and they're affordable. Can't go wrong with these.
