My family is heading to Port Arthur the last weekend of july. I would like to do a morning of fishing. I know I can go to Walter Humphrey pier at night and catch all the trout I can stand. But I was hoping to throw a topwater early one day or a spoon, you know something fun. Does anyone know of any good guides, or maybe has a boat and wanted to go. I would pay for gas if that was the case. Down here in corpus I fish alot of shallow waters in my polling skiff, but unfortunately I am unable to to haul it up there.

Dickie Colburn is probably the best on Sabine lake. I've been out with him a few times and it was a joy. He knows every bump, hole, and reef on Sabine Lake. He typically fishes the north end of the lake if there is a bite to be had up there. Google Colburns Sabine Connection and you will see his website.

From the bank you might also try the cut that runs from Keith Lake back to the ship channel. There is some bank access on both sides of the cut and it is typically pretty good early in the morning for reds, flounder, and trout.
