Heading to B/CS for a week of training. I have never fished any of these lakes. Is it worth bringing my boat and squeezing in some evening trips after class during the week?

No ramps open on Sommerville, Gibbons only open on weekends. Can't say about Lake Bryan.

From what I have found the fishing on Bryan is not great to say the least. I'm aware of the Gibbons access issues which will greatly limit my time there. I cant believe that Somerville still doesn't have any ramps open. I know they got hammered but dang..... Might as well leave the boat at the house!

Sommerville is still 14.4 above flood pool. With the small gates, they can only let about 3 inches every 24 hours. It will be around Sept 1 before any ramps open at that rate.

Yeah, the lake missed all three summer holiday weekends last year and so far this year. Birch Creek State Park may not open for several years due to having to cut down thousands of dead trees and all the buildings will need to be rebuilt after being underwater for four plus months.

Fire school? What week class are you taking? Municipal, Spanish, or industrial week?
I'm there for industrial week starting this Saturday. I'm helping to teach the level three class. I was thinking of trying something in the area too but I was thinking of bank fishing. Even thought about hitting the drafting lake across from the EOTC where they draft. Used to be a guy who would hit it about every afternoon after class.

Let me know where you decide to go and how you do. If we're there the same week I might bump into you.

I will be getting there a week from Saturday for the Municipal school. I will be teaching Fire Inspector I/II,,, "one of them there classes in the air conditioning" LOL. I heard that about the drafting tank but never tried it. As of right now I will be keeping my boat at a storage place in CS. Just need to find some water now!
