Lake Weatherford has a good population of crappie. Dock shooting produces large crappie.

It is overrun with small yellow bass which have largely displaced the white bass and bluegill.

Big black bass are caught from the lake.

Try the wall area near the dam for yellow bass. Channel cat are also numerous around the marina.

Been fishing Weatherford once or twice a week for the last couple months. I go mostly for largemouth, but never managed to get a reliable bite out there. Tons of crappie though.

Can you get on the lake before 8am when the marina opens?

Guess it depends on your boat. I have a small, two-person boat so I just pick it up and drop it in wherever. If you have a larger boat that requires a trailer then probably have to wait on the marina unless you decide to ninja someone's private boat ramp. Probably not a good idea. wink

If you buy a $175 pass you get a key/code to launch anytime.

That would be good if I could catch anything out there. Been twice and only managed 4 small bass.
