My wife and I are selling our lake house in Carthage Tx and thinking about buying a place on Canyon Lake. I would love to be on the water but I know from time to time the lake levels fall and you get further away from the lake. I am on the water now and have a new boat house and bulkhead, but my wife don't like swimming in the lake because no matter how clean the water is its still dark color and she can't see her toes. She won't swim by the house because she is worried about snakes.

What are your pros and cons of Canyon lake. I'm not expecting to buy a house on the water but want to be within minutes of a boat ramp and need enough room for a shop to keep the boats. This isn't a permanent resident but a weekend/summer place. What areas are better than others. Looking to spend up to 300-$350,000.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Hey Nitro, I live in New Braunfels and fish Canyon semi often. During the summer you can expect lots of pleasure craft during the week and a little bit of craziness during the weekend. Clarity is usually around 8-10 ft. Lots of smallmouth and largemouth up to 4 lbs but some really big fish in the lake. I can get you started in the right direction if you like to fish.
My sister is one of the preeminent real estate brokers around the lake let me know if your interested and I'll get you in touch with her.
John

That would be great. Hunting and fishing are my passions and would really need a lot of guidance on the fishing part once we make the move.

Thanks
