I would like options on 2 different boats. I currently run a Skeeter i class and looking for something a little newer. My thoughts are between the Skeeter FX21 or the Ranger Z522 Comanche. If you have any experience with either please let me know what your thoughts are.

Plus 1. The cat family is top of the line. Might not be the easiest boats to drive, but the ride can not be beat.

FX-21 is a nice ride. It fishes flawlessly, stable platform and dry ride (when on plane). It handles chop extremely well. Idling seems a little low in the front, so bigger waves can roll over her. I need to learn to speed into them, and just trust I won't kill it on a tree stump.

Some issues with a couple of finish items on my 2015 demo, but all in all excellent!

Thanks for the opinions, are the Bass Cats wide and stable like the Rangers and Skeeters? I know nothing about Bass Cats, they look narrow to me.....

The Jaguar is a beast if you are considering the big boats like a 522

The only basscats that are wide/long compared to the Ranger and skeeter is the jaguar, make sure you fish out of a bass cat, the trolling motor is a little to far forward for my liking.

you can't beat the fishing platform on a skeeter or ranger. I'm fishing allot more than driving so i want a supper sable platform and has plenty of room to lay out my rods in front deck.

The FX21 is a heck of a boat. I'd pick that over the Z522.

No charger...... Staying with Skeeter or Ranger, the new Charger is a nice boat though.

I traded my 2013 FX21 for a 2015 Z521 and I really miss the FX. I love the look of the Ranger. I can't really tell any difference in the ride or the top end of either boat. What I miss about my FX is the way the storage in the front deck is laid out. I thought I would love the giant center rod locker in the Ranger but it turns out that the side rod storage in the FX suits my style of fishing better when combined with the way the rest of the front storage lockers are laid out. This may seem like a little detail but it bothers me enough on the water that I will be getting back into an FX within the next 12 months.

I owned a 2012 Z522 it was a great boat. The 522 really is good on lakes with rough water or if you like fishing on windy days. The boat will go on days with the wind above 35 and ride across the waves most of the time with a fairly smooth ride. I do not believe any boat will fish better then a Ranger with the trolling motor down. The boat will run loaded in the 68 MPH range. You will have to much storage in this boat. LOL The 522 will fish out in open water with high winds if you like doing that. I did which is why I bought the boat. I have fish out of a few FX21 Skeeters and they to are a good boat. I would give the nod to the 522 when the wind is up on ride and fishing. When the wind is below 25 MPH I think it would be personal preference between the two boats, with the nod going to ranger with the trolling motor down still, but the rest it will be real close. You will not see a great deal of difference between the two when in the timber. I never had any problems with the 522 when fishing. I think you will be happy with either boat you decide on they are both good boats. I will just put my .02 on a different brand tho. I sold the 522 for a 921 Phoenix and it will out do either on ride and is just as nice as far as the fishing platform and how stable they are. The nod will still go to Ranger with the trolling motor down but I will take the 921 over either boat you are looking at. Good luck either way congrats on being in the position to buy a boat.

I was actually wondering if I would like that layout of the Ranger after being used to the Skeeter so that's good info
