Fish Lewisville typically twice a month or so but usually for cats, whites, and the occasional crappie. Going out with a friend this evening with hopes of getting some topwater action for Largemouth. Will put in at either Shady Shores or Sycamore Bend. Any helpful advice is much appreciated.

the dam is always a good choice, but also the I35 bridge. those are the easiest and most obvious. there are several good spots, but with a tournament coming up on Saturday, I doubt anyone will give up their honey hole. good luck!

Not so much luck on poppers and pencil baits lately, but black buzzbaits do some work.

Thx for the input. Im not tournament fisher thats for damn sure, and not looking for anyone's hard earned honey hole. Just havent fished largemouth in TX really much at all so looking for a bit of guidance on a large body of water..
On a side note...I just got back from a week in Elkhart Lake Wisconsin which proved difficult but rewarding. Got plenty of topwater action on smallys, largemouth, and pike. Spooks and spitnimage ended up producing the most strikes...Colors ended up being clear, cream, and translucent baits seemed to work best in the extremely clear water.
I will report back with my findings this evening! Hope the wind calms down a little bit.

Fished west of 35 and tried to stay out of the wind as best we could. Buddy threw a spinner and I being a stubborn bastard insisted on throwing my favorite topwater bait. Had a fish swipe and turn it down within the first 10 casts. Friend of mine hooks into a small one. Were thinking ok this could be good. Seconds later a giant comes fully out after my topwater and misses... damn.. guessing that fish had to be at least 5lbs.... that will get the heart racing.. anyways kept working at it and actually caught a few small ones while my friend caught 5 or so all over a lb with a couple over 2...
Was a good night for it minus the wind..
