You would need some very clear water to "sight fish" in deep water.
I locate fish on my electronics and then fish them.

Watch my graph a lot. Sometimes I fish on a hunch. Usually to limited success. Haha.

if by sight fishing you mean graphing a school and then fishing it, then yes to both

I was on a roll for a month or so, I caught several fish ranging from 7-10#'s which for me is very uncharacteristic. I bought updated electronics this spring and it has made a huge difference for me. But over the last 4-6 weeks every single big fish that I have caught, I have graphed it first. But the last few weeks as the fish have moved out deeper and there activity has slowed a bit (become more lethargic) me being able to find fish on the graph and then catch them has slowed way down.

I usually find structure and fish it.it usually helps if bait is present.

I usually find structure and fish it.it usually helps if bait is present. That's a great point. I actually look for bait first, then try and find where the bait is as close to structure in a given area and then I will fish it, even if I haven't seen what I think are fish. I won't fish and area that doesn't have bait around it. I really love fishing this way, I think it increases your chances of catching big fish but it is very time consuming, methodical and tedious. It's one of the reasons I enjoy fishing by myself because I don't have to worry about anyone else and trying to fish tournaments like this would be like swinging for the fences all the time and you could have some great days but a lot of duds too

I look for buoy markers and fish those, whether they be boat channel or the little orange ones people throw out

I graph the area for bait and fish on the bottom. Then I cast feverishly wondering what kind of fish wont hit at least one of the 15 baits I throw in my first 15 casts. Then I deduce its clearly a school of migratory turtles and end up drop shotting the bridge

I usually try and graph the guides near by, then fish around them.

I like to find structure with bait close to the bottom. Even if I don't see fish, I still fish some times. One never knows what might show up.
With that said, I sure like to fish on structure and the closer to the bottom the better I like it.
Thanks, Billy
