I spent 4 consecutive days catching and releasing in the surf last week. Some days I found the bite early, and others it was later in the morning. The trout hit a variety of retrieves and I fished several areas along the beach. The most fun was using a Controlled Descent Paddle Shad, twitching it several times, and letting it sink at a slow to moderate fall under rafts of mullet. The trout would hammer it on the fall!

I have fished the surf many days over the years, but last week was a first for me. The conditions were ideal and I was able to enjoy the water with my two sons, doing what I love, and catching fish on lures that I made. That's as good as it gets!
