This one wasn't fishing related. Tried to cross the river to get to the highway at 4 AM for some reason on July 4th. That was down by the Sandy Lake spillway area. I can't understand the thinking behind that move.

Fishing should be good for all species once they open it back up.

It is open now. went Friday. I caught nothing as my nephew started getting "heat stroke" after 30 minutes but my buddy caught several cats on cut shad and I was amazed but crappie casting a beetle spin into the current. I t stinks real bad down there, there are a lot of fish that were stuck in the rocks as the water went down and they are rotting.

Yea smells real bad, saw a couple dead fish. I actually caught a couple cats on swimbaits and jigs.

If you're interested, you can fish the banks of the old dam just on the other side of the toll bridge. Lots of shad that can be caught for bait. I have seen a lot of white bass and hybrids caught from the banks in this area.
