First of all, I want to say this, American Modern Home has been great to me. On a scale from 1-10, I give them a 9!! They just processed a check for me on claim for the lower unit on my 09 Yamaha. I was just wondering whether or not any of you have experienced what I did yesterday when I opened up the envelope with the check in it. The check was made to me AND my finance company! Not me OR my finance company. So that means I must now send that darned check all the way to Michigan to get it endorsed by the Bank before I can put it in my account and pay my mechanic. Meanwhile, the boat still sits in the mechanics yard awaiting proof that I can pay the guy before he will put it back together again. Luckily, I have known my mechanic for a few years so he is going to go ahead and get it back together while we wait on an envelope to come back from Michigan. Just curious if this is pretty much standard procedure in the insurance industry. Not complaining by no means, I am glad to have the check to cover the expenses.

Everything on your bass boat is broken......You just don't know it yet.

Yep, SOP. Take it to your bank and tell them you need to pay the mech. I did that for my roof claim.

As long as there is a lien on the boat, the finance company has a vested interest in it and they want to make sure it is repaired and the money not simply pocketed. That practice varies from company to company. I've had checks for auto repairs made out directly to me.

if you are in a hurry to get your boat back put it on a credit card then pay it off when your check comes back.
