I will be doing some surf fishing on Bolivar in two weeks. Plan to take a cast net for bait.

From my decadent youth, I seem to remember there was a particular time of year when sizable shrimp can be caught in the surf with a hand-dragged seine or cast net. What time of the year is that?

If I do catch some decent sized shrimp, and don't use them all for bait, is there any problem with keeping a dozen for the grill?

Yes you can keep shrimp for the grill. I have no idea how to catch them and would love to learn. So I am eagerly watching your thread.

Can someone explain how the Feds count recreational Red Snapper catch?
