I'm in the process of replacing an old lowrance with a humminbird that I can link to the 1198c I have at the console. I'll be using the bow unit for drop shotting and spoon jigging. I'd like to be able to see my lure as i'm jigging.

Thoughts?

Helix 10 di/gps. I have yet to find side imaging beneficial to the bow.

He is spot on. I Bought two of them to replace HDS gen 2's after I even tried a Garmin. Best Graphs I have ever owned and very user friendly. The folks at Shut-up-and-fish are great folks to deal with. PM me if you want anymore info.

Thanks guys. I bought my 1198 from Shut Up and Fish. Very happy with that transaction. Good fella.

I just want a unit for the front that I can see my drop shot when vertical jigging. More than likely do not need SI. Just the good definition of 2D sonar so I can pick apart what's below me.

Don't want to pay for features like side imaging on a unit when I won't be using it.

One thing to consider when looking at the Helix 9 DI. At Universal Mania, I think the price difference was ~$200+ between it and the Helix 10 DI. I was in the camp that for that the 9 would be fine at the bow until I went and looked at them side by side. The detail on the 9 appeared lacking and much lower than the 10. I did some inquiry and the 9 has the same dpi as the 7. Same dpi on larger screen = less detail. I don't switch graphs often, so I coughed up the extra to get the 10 DI with better dpi for the bow. I'll be networking it with a 1199 at the console.

Oh, one other thing. If I do any upgrade on the 10, it will be 360 imaging. After doing some research, that does appear that it would be very useful at the bow.
