How long does my trolling motor shaft need to be on my Triton Tr21x 2005 with Honda 225 four stroke on the back? Is the wiring for 24 volt heavy enough for 36 volt? Thanks Buying Xi5 today

You want to be around 6-8 gauge on the wire. Look me up if interested. I carry the MotorGuide XI5 motors. We do installation as well. David @ shut-up-and-fish 972 822 9825

I would not go with less than 6ga marine grade cable for any trolling motor wiring regardless of size.

I prefer 60 to 72' I fish even on windy days and don't like the blades rising out of the water. Also, if it is a little tall that is not such a bad thing if you need a point to steady yourself on.

On the Triton, a 45" shaft for a foot controlled trollingmotor, but since the Xi5 is electric steer, you may want to go somewhere in the 50" range. Let me know if I can help. John
