I used Mr. Twister to mainly catch stripers on Texoma back in the early 80's

I use a lot of Mister Twister soft plastics--they make my favorite color--Red River special.

When I first learned how to fish a plastic worm, we would go to Walker's Sporting Goods in Grand Prairie for tackle.
This was in the mid 70s.
They basically had Creme worms, Mann's Jelly worms and the new one was the Mister Twister. First worm I ever saw with a curly tail.

I liked the purple fire and purple yellow tails the best. Drop that next to a stump and hang on.

Back then, my best rod and reel was a Lew's BB1 - made by a new company named Shimano. It was mounted on a Browning Graphite Silaflex rod with Fuji guides and a Fuji pistol grip handle.

That rig cost about $100.

That was a pile of cash to a young man back then.
...I used a Falcon rod with a pistol grip yesterday for some worm pitching, it got me to thinking about all that.

I always have at least 2 pistol grips with me; might be the only ones with microguides

What brand of rod are you using with pistol grips? I have 3 Berkley with pistol grip handles and would like several more , just can't find them anywhere.

Trends dictate most things in fishing. They're hard to find these days.

Check Ebay.

The pistol grips I'm using are an assortment of old rods that I rewrapped with micro guides in a spiral wrap

Back in the 70's, the 6" Phenom was my go-to worm on the Ouachita River. My favorite color was "crawfish", brown with orange tail. Great lures.
