Hmmmm. No mystery. I mentioned several months ago that Seaguar Red was no longer level wound. Some folks just find it hard to accept. Haha. I have l, however, found tons of the level wound red at walmarts. I guess they bought a few pallets of the stuff and are still selling old stock. I guess that's good and bad.

Got a 1000 YD roll in today from Tackle Warehouse. Looks exactly the same as the e-bay roll and has the level wind badge on it. Guess it's just BS that they level wind the Red Label or TW is selling an imposter.

I noticed a few months ago at walmart some of it was level-wound and some wasn't, they also changed the size of the spool, its now smaller. Why would they quit level-winding it?

Whats the big deal with "level wind" or is that just a marketing gimmick?

Seaguar winds the line into the shipping spool side by side, layer by layer on "Levelwind" spools, keeping it uniform in diameter. Not huge deal, but it does cast a little smoother when it is initially installed onto a reel. After a few trips, it's the same dented up stuff that everyone else sells. Lol.

That's my take on it. Gimmick? No. It is better initially than other fluorocarbon lines. But only initially.
Is it worth a premium price? Nope.

I got a 15 lb. 1,000 yard spool from TW during the Christmas sale that wasn't level wound.
