I don't know where you live; but you are welcome at my house anytime. We will go out to the shop, show you exactly what you need, talk about different techniques, build some baits and you will have a much better understanding of what you have to do to catch more and larger Bass.

Donald, help him pick out a starter kit from my surplus stuff. I just finished filling my 3700 boxes and got a bunch of 'spares'.

Pics on the way...

The little rapalas are off the table. Y'all pick a few from each box.

Welcome to Texas.

If someone has a bunch of these small spinners; if you will send them to me I will rebuild them and mail them to him.

tpvegas2213 as these guys chime in please send them a Personal Message with your address and we will see what we can do. If someone donates the small spinners I will PM you to get your address. Hope this helps.

Donald

All I really modify is the spinner baits. I build some of the best. So if you have some small ones just shoot me a PM. You can mail them to me and I will make them right for you. I have tons of pictures but they want help you much. It is too expensive to acquire all the parts to build one right that will catch fish.

Probably the #1 bait for catching fish from the back of the boat would be a 1/4 ounce shakey head with a green pumpkin trick worm. It will catch fish from 0-30 feet on just about any lake in Texas around just about every type of cover and structure we have. Just because it is a small bait does not mean it won't catch big fish either.

#2 bait would be a weightless senko or trick worm either green pumpkin or watermelon shade rigged wacky for pre spawn, spawn events, and other shallow/grass events.

Another good rig would be a chicken rig (light carolina rig) 1/4 ounce weight and about a 2 foot leader with either a trick worm or speed craw.

If you are fishing with a decent pro running the bank, you aren't going to get many shots at fresh water on the prime targets on the active fish. It's better to fish smaller finesse baits behind him and pick up the neutral fish that he will be fishing too fast to catch. Most of the tournaments are scheduled around the spawn on lakes like Rayburn/Toledo. If he's fishing a bed fish in a cut, throw a wacky worm out in about 4-8 foot of water around the boat and work it slow. If they are on beds in a particular cove, there will be fish moving in and out of that cut and those are the ones you want to target while he's fishing for the locked on fish.

Anyway, there's been a lot of money won out of the back of the boat on the co-angler side on those three techniques and baits. Main thing is to do something different than the pro, if he's flipping, throw a chatter bait or a spinnerbait. If he's throwing a chatter bait or a spinnerbait, try to flip. Unless he's flat out dialed in and says "here, throw this." Then you tie that on and throw it.

Deep events or open water events you can sometimes get away with throwing the same thing as the pro, if he's lined up where both you and him can cast to the structure. If not, a drop shot or shaky head will pick up fish that separate from the school and structure and wander around.

Good luck.

Alright, I'm on it. I was looking for jig trailers this morning, closest thing was Baby Brush Hogs, so somebody else break out some of these for him.

I need some too and would appreciate pointers. Looking to stock up and learn crappie jigging.

I'll put a box together for him. Pics will follow soon.

Here ya go -

Your confidence baits are the two old H&H spinners that I rebuilt just for you. They have both boated many bass. A couple of the spinner baits have trailer hooks already. The red trebles are new mustad super sharp and are guaranteed to pizz off the fish. There's some deep divers in there too. Sorry it's cut off at the top, there's a small rattle trap up there. I had no 3D eye jigs, but these are good weedless jigs. The top one has a rattle.

And the plastics -

I pulled from your list as best I could and then just started thinning the herd. There's lotsa good stuff in here. I think most if not all of the bags are unopened.

He needs terminal tackle. That will blow his budget quick enough.

Green pumpkin and watermelon red baby brush hog, blue fleck power worms watermelon red trick worms some worm hooks, shakyheads, shad pattern squarebill and medium diving cranks, crig harware, a couple waking baits, and frogs, and a couple bladed jigs and spinnerbaits and you should be good anywhere you go in Texas for most of the year. Hit up tackle warehouse with the 15% off right now and get you a few extras.

Shoot me a pm with your contact info. I live in Palestine and have fished the weekend series (now ram truck open series) as a co-angler the last 4-5 years. I would be happy to call you or give you my contact info when I return from out of town. I change most of my tackle out according to what the boater says we are doing when we meet the night before. coach
