I have good electronics.

I am seeing fish....lots of them. I am also seeing huge schools of baitfish.

I am catching bluegills, crappie, drum and yellow bass, lots of yellow bass, channel cats, but not doing well on the bass. I have not fished at night.

What would you recommend at this time of year. Spinnerbaits are not the ticket. Bass are suspended out on the ledges. I love to catch bass on top water, but that is a very limited bite here. I have thrown sexy shad cranks. Texas rigged big worms. Wacky rigged worms. Carolina rigged creature baits. Fluked what little grass I can find.

Should I give finesse more time, or just keep dragging creature baits? Yellow bass eat the rattle traps, but not so much for the black bass. I have not thrown a lot of jigs, but that's worth a try.

I appreciate your thoughts.

If I remember correctly there was some past BASS events up there during this time of the year. They were using the 10" Ol Monster Big worm on a Texas rig on the ledges. Much of the success also had to do with the water flow. Often times the Crankbaits just won't go deep enough. They are KVD Glamorous though! banana
A football head jig and also the Biffle Head Jig with a creature bug bait might be something to consider.

Flutter Spoon, swimbait on a heavy jig head and an A-rig on those suspended fish, PH.

I have been throwing a caffeine shad on one of those Scrounger jigs...no interest. Not even the bar fish.

Thanks for the A rig reminder. I have never tried those.

PH, I read these articles last week. I've fished with this man and he is a hammer. Especially at catching deep fish no one else seems to be able to find/catch. Perhaps these articles will help you unlock the puzzle.

Dunno why the second link didn't work but you can find it on bassfan, PH. Good luck!

I remember watching a tournament a while back with close to those same conditions. The guys leading were both throwing a 1/2 and 3/4 oz fish head spins, counting them down and turning the handle on the reel as slowly as they could. Think they were also switching it up with a bladed jig. They both said the key was how slowly they were fishing the baits.

PH I don't know about fishing where you are at but here when the bite it tough I usually go to a Zoom Finesse Worm Texas rigged go to color is Charteuse Pepper. Another bait when finicky is a White Rooster Tail one heavy enough to chunk and run deeper maybe 3/8 oz. If you throw those 2 baits here and zero they are not biting.

Also what time of day are you fishing? First and last light this time of year normally works best for me.

I try to fish from 0530-1000 or 1730 to 2030.

With the full moon lately, I think night fishing would be best, but I haven't tried it yet.

FLW is back next weekend. 200 boats. Oh joy. Ledge fish will be scattered all over the place.
