It's from a bass pro flyer.

Maybe Manuel or rope start, not electric.

Manuel is my best guess too.

At first I thought it had something to do with the metric system on the power rating but after searching the web I couldn't find any references.

This is probably the result of our new globalization economy. Bass Pro probably outsources their advertising to foreigners who have no clue that a 2.5 HP outboard only comes as a pull start.

Anyway the layout in the flyer made no sense to me. I would expect to see 2.5 HP instead of 2.5M, but then again it might make sense to someone living in India, Australia, or Iran.

I posted the same question on an Australian outboard mechanic forum and they all laughed at me for not knowing what it stood for.

Minimum hp required for boat operation. In other words larger hp available.
