Are any Central North Texas lakes known for big bluegill/sunfish? I live near 820 and 35W and I have had some luck catching some eater sized at Marine Creek Lake with my kids. I tried Grapevine with my son and we only caught one at one of the only accessible spots we could get to (sitting on a picnic table in the middle of the lake lol). Also tried Joe Pool at the state park and caught a ton of little guys, I think there was just WAY TOO much pressure, as again, there was only really a few spots to get bank fishing access. I normally bass fish, but the kids are too little to really get into that yet. Fishing for the bluegill really brings me back and I'm starting to get the bug to catch some big ones!

I catch a few 8 inch Bluegills from Joe Pool. Try the fishing dock at Lynn Creek Marina. Avoiding the dinks and catching the big fish is a matter of technique. Also, Capp Smith Park in Watauga is close to you. It has big green sunfish and medium sized bluegills. Fish in the creek near the Starnes Road bridge for best results.

There is no lake in the metroplex which produces large sunfish. For a treat for the kids take them to Bluegill Lakes Cabins near Athens. The resort has a half dozen large ponds loaded with 10 inch bluegills. It has fishing docks where the kids can sit and catch a trophy bluegill every time they put a hook in the water.

Im going to try Joe Pool tomorra. The kids and I have been hitting all the creeks and time to step up a level.lol
