So I have an old Motor Guide 70lb thrust motor on my boat. It currently has a well used 3 blade prop on it. I will mostly be crappie fishing and either tying up on timber or staying over brush piles in open water. Motor guide says the 2 blade is better for open water and the 3 blade for the weeds. However I need as much thrust from the motor as I can get. I have seen reviews that say the 3 blade has more thrust (not a fluid dynamics engineer here so can't say whether this is true). Anyone care to chime in and let me know if I should replace the current prop with a 2 or 3 bode prop. Thanks!

If you buy one check out the kipawa 3 blade prop.i think it moves more water at a slower speed but that's just me

If you're staying with Motorguide:
2 blade is considered a "power" prop. Has less slip, but is for open water.
3 blade is a compromise of power and weedless prop. Smaller outside diameter for weed control
2 blade "Safari" has swept back design for weed control (weedless). Not as good in open water.
Hope this helps
John
BTW, we keep these props in stock.

None better than the Weedless Wedge. Some modify the shear pin groove to fit a Motor Guide.

I have the same trolling motor. I use the 2 blade safari for weeds and the 3 blade machette for open water.
The 3 blade is much faster and helps to keep up with schooling sandies. The only problem with the 3 blade is it tends to jerk the boat when starting. Any passenger needs to be sitting down when I hit the switch.

From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!
