I know there is no minimum keeper size for Bluegill, I'm wondering what would be the smallest you would keep for dinner? 6-7"? 8"?

Seven inches is my minimum length. I call eight and nine inch sunnies the perfect eating size. I usually release the ten inch or better sunfish. thumb

I can still fillet a 6 inch bluegill so I stick to 6 inches and up. I'll keep the big boys if they are common on the particular water body.

I usually let the big ones go. I have eaten plenty of 7 to 9 inch sunnies!
