On a day when I had finalized plans for some dockshooting for crappie at CC with Eric Emeritz, I get a call from none other than the legend himself, Ernest Paty, to go fishing with him! Same day! AS much pain as it created, I had already agreed to meet Eric at Caney Ramp on CC, I had to tell Mr Paty no. He understood, and I know there will be other opportunities to go with him.

Met up at 8:30, and that's early for me, and off we went. First stop a brushpile, and we got a few dinks, nothing spectacular by any stretch of the imagination. Then it was off to the docks, LOTS of docks, and we started with mixed results. Lots of fish, most dinks, The finally, we statred getting semi consistent9-9.99'ers, and then the one dock tha makes your ice chest worth taking with you. Several 10 inchers, and finally 11-12 inchers, real keepers. Typical CC crappie, with the broad shoulders! We did not keep a total count, but it was decent, and I took 10 11-12 inch crappie home for dinner. We also managed one largemouth dink and one dink channel cat.

We did not use any glizty glamour brand name jigs, just your run of the mill, off the rack cheapos. My best was the hollow body charteuse/red on an UNPAINTED jig head, and for the docks i went heavy, for me, 1/16th oz, as did Eric, although he varied his color selection more than i did. I also used charteuse/black and firecracker. Good day on the water, and great company. Eric and I hadn't fished in a LONG time, so it was a lot of fun.
