I just changed the hitch on the RV. I'm all 2 5/6" Bulldog cast iron now. No worries.

I know the guy you need to call. He did this for me on the RV from Hell project. New adjustable bulldog hitch, new bulldog HD jack, custom spare mount, secure chains. He comes to you.

Bulldog hitches are the best, but you still have to have the correct ball (and shank) and everything tight.

Yeah, if your trailer is new, you don't need a bulldog yet. Check everything else in the list first. Do the jack up the trailer tongue test.
